Q.  Are your doggie cakes human edible.
A.  All our products are made with human-grade ingredients....and we eat them ourselves. HOWEVER....we are a pet bakery and make products designed for animal consumption, not human consumption.

Q.  You advertise that your treats are natural, but you use food coloring in your products.

A.  This is true.  My Best Friend "bakes" treats that are all-natural, using no chemical preservatives and no artificial ingredients.  BUT.....as we state on our ingredients page, certain products must use USDA food colors for designs such as our picture "paw"ty cakes. We are not able to create the artwork on these products without the use of food colors. However, the actual amount of these colors actually consumed by the animals is quite small.  If the use of food colors concerns you, please contact us.  We have many options for treats that do not contain food colors, including "paw"ty cakes with no colors used. 

Q.  
Can I order products in advance and have them arrive for a specific date in the future?
A.  YES!  Let us know the exact delivery date you would like in the text area when you place your order, and we will time your shipment to arrive to you by that date in bakery-fresh condition.  Of course, once the order leaves our hands, we have no control over the carriers. This is why we recommend using "guaranteed" carriers such as Fedex.

Q.
 I worry about shipping cakes and damage to the cake.
A.  Your concern is a valid one...BUT....at My Best Friend, we have perfected our packing methods to the point where we have had very very few problems with shipping damage over the years.  Shipping damage is a "NON-ISSUE" for us.  We successfully ship cakes all over the country and have thousands of extremely happy customers nationwide.

Q.
Why is shipping so expensive for cakes?*
A. We wish we could make shipping costs less expensive for our customers, but bottom line....we want happy customers! Imagine how you would feel after ordering a special cake for your pet you love so much and to have it delivered to you late, damaged or spoiled. Delivering your cake to you on time, and in bakery-fresh condition with NO shipping damage is top priority with us.  To accomplish this, we must take extra care in packaging your cake to withstand shipping and the elements. We ship your cake with a short transit time of 1-3 days maximum and use guaranteed carriers such as Fedex.  The U.S. Post Office 2-3 Day Priority Shipping is available also, and is lower cost, but because some postal zip codes can take more than 3 days for delivery, and the Post Office does not guarantee a delivery date, we highly recommend FEDEX for time-sensitive shipments.

Q.  How much time do you need to make a cake for my dog and get it to me?
A.  We ask 2 days minimum from order date to shipping date.   If you do not have 2 days available, please call us at (858) 271-0334.  Depending on our workload, we may be able to accommodate you.  Once your order is shipped, the time it takes to get to you will be either 1, 2 or 3 days, depending on the method of shipping you choose at checkout.

Q.  
Can I have more than 1 dog picture on my cake?
A.  Yes, the size cake you are ordering determines the maximum number of pictures you may have on a cake. For instance, on a 4" cake, the maximum number of pictures is 2, but on a 1/4 sheet cake, the maximum number of pictures is 5.  Keep in mind, the smaller the cake, and the more pictures you order, the smaller the pictures will be and less detailed. The larger the cake, the more detailed we can be when painting the picture. Since all our pictures are hand-painted, there is a $5.00 extra charge for each additional picture.  On the cake page, there is an option to add this charge.

Q.
 My dog is mixed and doesn't fit a specific breed.  Can I still have his picture on the top of his cake?  
A.  Yes, of course.  You may email mybestfriend@san.rr.com or mail us a picture of your dog and we can use that to create his cake.  The picture must be good quality, providing a clear "head-shot" of your dog.

Q.  I don't have a picture of my dog to send.  Can I still have a picture on the cake?

A.  Yes, if your dog is a purebred breed...or at least looks purebred.  We have generic breed pictures on file, however, if your dog is mixed, and you do not have a picture, we cannot "guess" what your dog looks like and attempt to paint a picture that looks like him or her.

 Can I choose a specific design that is pictured on your cake page?
A.  Yes, just let us know which cake on the page you would like us to use as an example.  You can type the info. in the text area.

I would like to customize my order more than the order page allows. How can I do that?

Q.
 I live in San Diego, CA.  Can I pick up my order or have it delivered?
A.  We do not offer delivery, but San Diego residents can pick up if desired. San Diego residents are given the option for "pick-up" at the end of the checkout process.
